Next Up

Next we will begin posting H.A. McCormick's Life Sketch, Harry McCormick, Sr.'s account of young adulthood from 1863 to about 1902. We will also republish some of Editor McCormick's Observations from the Wynot Tribune, circa 1918.

For the record, H.A. McCormick is K.A. McCormick's grandfather and my great-grandfather. The Life Sketch was written in the late 1940s when Harry was almost 90.

Meanwhile, if you have a memoir or story to tell about growing up in a small town, leave me your contact information in a comment.

well, i grew up in a small town. a small town where there were random drug checks once a month, and fathers threatened to throw the principal out the window. 400 kids in the elementary school, 400 kids in the high school. graduated with 60 people. so yeah..

WOW! I've also read "Life Sketch" many times as Harry McCormick is my great-great grandfather!

I do believe we've met once, back in 1992 at Grandma Lou's 90th Birthday celebration.

Perhaps we can get back in touch.

I have a picture of you sitting with Grandma Lou at sunset with the other great grandchildren.
